In this study, we attempted to determine an optimal first dose of phenobarbital for the treatment
of seizures in the asphyxiated full term neonates.
Blood samples were obtained 2 to 48 hours after the administration of final effective loading dose
and plasma levels were determined by the EMIT system.
Four groups of neonates were studied. Six neonates (Group 1) received an intravenous loading dose

This study determined the accuracy of Doppler echocardiography for predicting the pulmonary
artery pressure from right ventricular systolic time intervals in 25 pediatric patients with various
congenital cardiovascular diseases undergoing cardiac catheterization.
Either estimated pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) using Burstin nomogram and pulmo-
nary artery diastolic pressure (PADP) using Riggs equation (PADP= 151· RPEP / RVET ·20.7) correlated
well with the pressures at... |
